MY GYM HAS A 30-MINUTE TIME LIMIT ON TREADMILLS, WHICH ISN'T LONG ENOUGH FOR MY WORKOUTS. IS IT OKAY TO IGNORE THE POLICY?

PUBLISHED 12/05/2006

-Jackson P., Philadelphia

Yeah, sure, just ignore the gym policy. And ignore cell-phone bans in theaters. Heck, why not ignore race rules and jump on a subway and skip half of Boston, too? Out of respect to other runners, stick to 30 minutes and just be creative about making the most of the time by cranking up the speed or incline-or tack on a spin-yoga-Pilates fusion class afterward. Now, I say all that with an asterisk and an "if a tree falls in the woods" exception: If nobody's waiting to get on, there's no reason to get off.
