David Balsley has been a runner for 45 years, and a physical therapist treating runners for over 30 years. He was the director of the Sports Medicine, Performance and Research Center at the Hospital for Special Surgery from 1983-1990, owned his own physical therapy center on Long Island, and now has a practice in Manhattan. Balsely has worked with runners of all levels and backgrounds. Since his day as a miler at Middletown High School in New York, Balsely has moved up in distance; he now primarily competes in 50- and 100-mile races.
