Goal: Lose weight
Valdi Sapira, 45, emergency room physician
Valdi is a physician and former marathoner (he's completed seven) who fell off the running wagon -- hard. Back in the late 90s, he lost 100 pounds. But now his 5'7" frame carries 277 pounds, close to his peak of 287. He's determined to get back into running and drop about 20 pounds, for starters.
