ON THE ROAD: COLORADO SPRINGS

Home to some of the best-and most challenging-trails in the country, make sure you visit Colorado Springs on your next running adventure.

Tour Guide: Nancy Hobbs, Exec. Director of the American Trail Running Association

Run 1: Monument Valley Park (4.2 miles): From the parking lot off Mesa Road and Glen Avenue, head south on the park trail, following the western shore of the creek. Cross the creek at the footbridge. Run north, passing Uintah Street. At the northern end of the park, cross the footbridge and return to the start.

Run 2: Garden of the Gods (5.5 miles): From the Visitor Center off of North 30th Street, take Gateway Road into the park. Turn right on Juniper Way Loop. At the next two Y intersections, bear right on Garden Drive. Make a sharp left onto Garden Lane and follow it back to Juniper Way Loop and turn right. Return to the start.

Run 3:Palmer-Mesa Trail (7.2 miles): Park along Uintah Street. Follow the gravel Palmer-Mesa Trail north as it parallels Mesa Road. After Fillmore Street, the trail merges with a paved bicycle lane. Turn around at the parking lot about a quarter-mile after intersecting with North 30th Street. Return to the start.
