ON THE ROAD: SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

With everything from group runs, to 1/2 marathons to a 50-mile ultra, Sacramento has something for every runner.

Tour Guide: John Blue, President of the Buffalo Chips Running Club

Run 1: William Land Park (3 miles):
From the intersection of 13th Avenue and Freeport Boulevard, run west on 13th Avenue. Turn right on Land Park Drive. Make left turns on 11th Avenue, Riverside Boulevard, and 13th Avenue. Turn right on West Land Park Drive. At Bartley Drive, turn left and run through the traffic circle. Turn right on Land Park Drive. Make left turns on Sutterville Road and Freeport Boulevard and return to the start.

Run 2: Discovery Park (6 miles):
Start at the parking lot off Interstate 5 and Garden Highway. Follow the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail east. Cross Del Paso Boulevard. At the three-mile marker, turn around and return to the start.

Run 3: Lake Natoma (12 miles):
From the fish hatchery on the southern shore of Lake Natoma, run north across the Hazel Avenue bridge. Follow the paved Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail northeast. Pass Greenback Lane and take the ped?estrian bridge over the lake. Follow the trail southwest, pass the dam, and return to the start.
