10/19/2006 JOSH EBERLY JUST LOOKING FOR AN OLYMPIC TRIALS QUALIFIER IN CHICAGO

After battling iron and thyroid problems, this Hansons' member has one goal in mind

PUBLISHED 10/19/2006

Eberly was an NCAA Division II 10,000-meter champion at Western State in Colorado before joining the Michigan-based Hansons Distance project. He ran an encouraging 2:19:28 in Chicago last fall, but he's had setbacks with serious iron and thyroid problems in 2006. Now, coming to the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon for the second time, he affirms, "the only goal at Chicago is to qualify for the Trials (2:20 or bust). I think for the majority of my teammates they have already qualified for the Trials at Boston. They don't have to be as careful as I do, they can go big on Marathon Day and won't worry too much if they blow up."
