CAREY PINKOWSKI: A CHICAGO MARATHON MUST

After 16 years, Marathon boss still loves the pace

PUBLISHED 10/20/2006

Carey Pinkowski, the executive race director for The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, has been involved with the city's signature race since 1990, and at 48 it appears he has no intention of slowing down.

While the Chicago race is his full-time passion, he enjoys many other passions, from watching his 5-year-old daughter play soccer to playing golf and taking annual fishing trips with friends he grew up with in Hammond, Ind.

Although he was a two-time Indiana state champion in the mile and cross country, this Elmhurst resident said his passion for running really took hold when he attended Villanova University on a track scholarship and witnessed his first marathon in New York.
