03/23/2007 JOHN KELLY WILL BE GRAND MARSHALL

John J. Kelley will be Grand Marshall of the Boston Marathon, 50 years after his triumph

PUBLISHED 03/23/2007

Kelley also finished second in Boston five times. He's the first link in a chain of Connecticut natives who've won in Boston, a chain that includes Amby Burfoot and Bill Rodgers. Nina Kuscsik, who was the Boston Marathon's first "official" women's champion in 1972, will be the Elite Women's Starter on April 16, and Kathrine Switzer, whose new autobiography is "Marathon Woman," will be back for the 40th anniversary of her first race in Boston. Japan's Toshihiko Seko, won in Boston in 1981 and 1987, has a date to throw out the first pitch at a Red Sox game in Fenway Park.
