04/11/2007 CHERUIYOT, JEPTOO RETURN TO DEFEND TITLES

These Kenyan stars will be put to the test as they face a tough field on the streets of Beantown

Returning to Boston to defend titles from last year will be Kenya's Robert K. Cheruiyot and Rita Jeptoo. A year ago Cheruiyot raced past countryman Benjamin Maiyo to win the race by a minute while also breaking the course record in a time of 2:07:14. Jeptoo held off Latvia's Jelena Prokopcula to claim the women's title by a mere 10 seconds in a time of 2:23:38.
