Do you listen to music?
I will take music with me most of the time. I have an iPod.

What's on it?
Anything and everything. From country western to classic rock to jazz.

Any specific song to get you going?
No. I'll vary it. A lot of Springsteen and you know, Don Henley, a lot of that stuff.

Have you ever had a running coach?
No.

The 18-week program?
I just pulled it off the Internet.

Does running influence how you coach? Does being a distance runner make you a different coach than you'd be otherwise?
You know, I'll tell you, when you say distance running, I did run the marathon, I do run for exercise, but I don't see myself necessarily as a distance runner. I just love to run. I'm a recreational runner. Maybe I am. There's discipline, discipline associated with running. That's required.

Do you stretch, do yoga, lift weights?
I'll stretch. Did a lot of yoga when I was running the marathon. Don't do as much as I should, but I still do it. Light weights here and there, but stretching and running is about it.

Are there ever days when you don't feel like running?
Oh yeah, there are days when you don't feel like it. Those are the days you have to do it. Discipline is doing what you really don't want to do so you can do what you really want to do. Got that?

Do you run so you can eat or do you eat so you're a better runner?
When I was doing the marathon, I ate better, obviously, because it's important. I'm a good eater, but I do run for weight control. I'm fortunate it's not an issue, but I'll do it.

So you won't reward yourself with a piece of cheesecake because you had a good run?
No.

So what's harder, running 26.2 miles or a 16-game NFL season? What's more physically grueling?
You know, I really enjoyed the run and I enjoy the season. But I do believe, that because of running, the season is easier, just from an emotional and pressure standpoint and a health standpoint.
