Asics Gel-Kayano 13

We say: This update boasts the largest Gel unit Asics has ever used, which results in a softer, more durable heel. To prevent the shoe from feeling squishy, a plate has been placed over the Gel heel unit to work as a sort of mattress box spring. It also features an improved Space Trusstic device through the arch, which helps stabilize and guide the foot through the gait cycle (see page 101). Our Shoe Lab tests found the Kayano to be the most flexible shoe in the stability category. Recommended for normal- to low-arched runners looking for a great fit and ride.

A big dissapointment after running in approx 3 pairs each of the gen 10, 11, and 12. The Kayano 12 was my favorite shoe ever...had hoped the 13 would be even better..NOT SO! Much less flexible, cushioning seems inferior, fit has changed in ways difficult to describe. Retire one pair of 13 after only 135 miles due to worn hole inside heel...just wore a simlar hole in second pair of 13s after only 120 miles. Kayano 12s were always retired after 300 miles, even though they were still in fine shape (outwardly) Hope the 14 goes back to the characteristics of the 12..

Absolutely dissapointing experience. I expected a better shoe than Kayano 12, but it was not. It isn?t a soft shoe and it does not have a smooth fit like K-12. Every step I take my knees and feet claim for mercy. I give them 2 stars just because I was able to run a marathon with them, but I would have liked to get a new pair of Kayano 12 instead. I would have enjoyed the 26.2 a lot more. Please, let Kayano 14 be like 12. .

I am very disappointed in the 13 compared to the 12. The ride is not nearly as smooth and the heel feels hard and awkward (probably the steel plate over the gel in the heel). The forefoot feels thinner, not as much cushioning as the 12. I could not find a good stride and my shin started hurting early and my left knee ended up sore. Overall not a good experience..
