We say: The updated 872 sports a well-designed new webbing system that connects the eyestays to the midsole all along the perimeter of the shoe, from the heel to the forefoot. This innovative design gives runners more ways to customize fit. Our Shoe Lab tests found the 872 to be well cushioned yet stiff in the forefoot, giving runners better control on uneven terrain. Recommended for average-weight runners with normal to high arches who run on both the road and a variety of trail surfaces. Note: This is the only shoe in this guide that comes in various widths: D-4E for men and B-2E for women.

Great shoe. No slips on the trail with this one. Comfortable upper. Good arch support. Even smooth for road running. Great heel cushioning.
