Feb 2007 Shoe Guide
WE SAY: New Balance updated the 1061 with a last (foot form) that is narrower in the heel and slightly broader in the forefoot. It also features a seamless liner to reduce blister risk. Another smart improvement: a layer of foam under the sockliner for a softer feel underfoot right out of the box. Because it's the stiffest shoe in this guide, we recommend the 1061 for bigger runners with normal to high arches looking for plenty of cushioning and a firm base of support.
WEAR-TESTERS SAY: "For a big guy like me (256 pounds), this shoe provided good cushioning considering how light it felt."--Mark Hanswirth, 25, East Lansing
"A great training shoe with good cushioning."--Kristine Zoshale, 27, Allentown
