We Say: The Elixir hasn't changed much, which is good--just a few notable tweaks to the design of the upper. Mizuno added a panel of stretchy material at the base of the tongue to make the toebox more comfy and notched the eyestay row to give the shoe a more customized fit. The lightweight Elixir skirts the line between the stability and performance-training categories, so we recommend it for efficient runners with normal arches or as a racing shoe for heavier runners with low arches.
Wear-testers Say: "Great shoe. Very lightweight with good support."--Brooke Stuber, 33, East Lansing
"It wasn't my favorite training shoe, but I wore it when I raced a 5-K and loved the feel."--Sharon M. Becker, 36, East Lansing

I have been wearing Asics 1100- and 2100-series shoes for years, and the Elixir 2 is far superior. It feels lighter, cushions well, and provides more road feel. I planned to use this shoe for short runs only, but at 140lbs, it provides plenty of cushioning for 10+ mile runs.
The yellow cloth is pretty awesome, too. Even when the Elixir 2s are filthy, they still stand out in a crowd of gray running shoes..
