Runner's World Shoe Lab Test Results
New Balance overhauled the sole of the 1062 to make it more supportive than its predecessor. The transition bridge is now thicker, and the heel is segmented into three independent pods to better isolate impact forces and promote a smoother transition from heel-strike to toe-off. It's still the stiffest shoe in this guide. Recommended for bigger runners with normal to high arches who want good cushioning with a bit of added support.

"The arch wrap kept my feet secure, but the weight could be reduced." --Todd Davidson, 21, East Lansing

"The shoe had excellent cushioning, great breathability, and an ingenious lace design." --Jonathan Laughter, 22, San Diego

"A well cushioned shoe in the heel and forefoot and a comfortable ride once keyed into your feet and running style." --Michael Friddle, 37, East Lansing

"I loved the nice, wide toe box." --Rodney Beidler, 51, Allentown

"The shoe was lighter than I expected and I loved the shoelace design and how they helped keep my shoes tied." --Ross Huddleston, 28, East Lansing

"The shoe provides the cushioning I was looking for in my long runs, but the weight of the shoe made it difficult to do speedwork in them." --Deana Ferry, 42, Allentown

These shoes are great. I switched from stability to cushion and have not regretted it. I have a high arch and these shoes fit great. The cushioning is tremendously noticeable and helpful during those long 10+ mile runs. .

As a larger runner with a high arch, the 1062 has ample room for my orthotics. The lace design is superior as it holds my foot in place on long runs. During the heat of summer, the sole of the shoe has been a good insulator from ground heat..

Like its predecessor 1061, the 1062 is a good pair of cushioning shoes. Although the 1062 is a little heavier, but the cushioning pays off well especially for heavy runners doing any distance longer than 10km. The injury risk of road pounding is offset by the superior absorptive technology, giving you a good smooth ride. Highly recommended! .
